    Evil Dead Rise movie has long been a female-forward horror franchise and has even had Bruce Campbell typically leading the charge. Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker and Theresa Tilly from Sam Raimi’s original The Evil Dead have been collectively dubbed “The ladies of The Evil Dead,” and 2013’s remake of course brought us a brand new franchise icon in Jane Levy’s Mia.

    The upcoming film Evil Dead Rise brings Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan into the mix as the newest females of The Evil Dead, and Sutherland has shared an stunning photo on Twitter this past weekend. Sutherland and Sullivan recently reunited with the remake’s Star Jane Levy, the trio taking a photo together as the newest “Evil Dead” blood sister.”

    To be clear, Jane Levy is NOT featured in Evil Dead Rise, so don’t read too much into the picture. It’s just a fun personal shot during a recent gathering with Three Evil Dead stars.

    Can you believe it’s already been TEN YEARS since Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead was released?! Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise is coming exclusively to theaters on April 21, 2023.

    Here’s the official synopsis of the plot of Evil Dead Rise…

    “In the fifth Evil Dead film, a exhausted Beth visits to her older sister Ellie who is raising three children on her own in the cramped L.A apartment. The reunion between the sisters is cut short by the finding of a mysterious book within the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and dragging Beth into a struggle for survival as she confronts the most nightmarish motherhood scenario that she can imagine.”

    The shotgun and chainsaw (particularly the Ash’s “Boomstick”) have become iconic weapon of the Evil Dead franchise. We’ve seen them in the Evil Dead Rise marketing material the two weapons are featured in the new film, however, there’s a brand new weapon that’s in the mix which is bound to become a favorite among fans. Meet Staffanie.

    Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise relocates the franchise away from the traditional rustic cabin in the woods to the Los Angeles apartment building. That’s where Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) lives with her three children, Danny (Morgan Davies), Bridget (Gabrielle Echols) and Kassie (Nell Fisher). While their aunt Beth (Lily Sherwood) is in town for a visit, a Necronomicon is discovered and it spits its evil straight into Ellie. Since she is the only adult in the game, Beth takes charge, but the kids do everything they can to stop their deadite mother, even little Kassie. The weapon she uses? A handmade creation she calls Staffanie A combination of dolls and a well-made staff.

    While in Austin for the film’s SXSW premiere, Cronin took the time to sit down for an extended interview with Collider and specifically mentioned Staffanie during the non-spoiler half of our interview. While explaining how he struck an incredibly balanced balance between sheer terror and the classic Evil Dead humor, he utilized Staffanie as an example:
